I went to West Georgia College. I have a three degrees from WGC. I taught elementary school for 30 years. I have been retired for 17 years. My husband and I will celebrate 50 years of marriage in October 2020.

School Story

I came to Lakeshore in 10th grade. I was at Headland before and then the county redistricted and sent me on an even longer bus ride from the Utoy Springs community. It was the BEST thing that could have happened. The students at LHS were friendly, no cliques, just good people! The teachers were GREAT, also! Even though I had to ride big yellow for one hour each way from home, it was worth it. I am sorry I never could participate in afterschool activities because of being a "bus rider". I have very fond memories of LHS and all that happened there in the 60's.

So sad to report that our sweet friend, Bernie, passed away on Dec. 27, 2022 from pancreatic cancer. He was a wonderful friend, fellow classmate, and a unbelievable Santa Claus. He will be missed by so many people. Joyce Hopkins Lorton LHS Class of 1966

Joyce Hopkins Lorton has left an In Memory comment for MELINDA BROWN.

Melinda Brown was a sweet person who lead an interesting life, cut way too short.  I got to know her better as she often came to the Class of 1966 Varsity events.

She passed away in Paris, France while waiting to take a cruise on July 4, 2018.
